We have survived the first 3 days of school!!!
Everyone is doing great with the rules and procedures and they caught on pretty quick!
Our Friday's email will be formatted the same each week. At the end there is a list of upcoming events. If an event gets added I will make it a different color.
This email is going to be packed with lots of information. Please make sure you read all the way through.
Jackets-- It is set to 69 degrees in my classroom. As you can imagine, that is pretty cold for the students. I can't control the temperature so you may want to send in a red zip jacket for your child to wear if they get cold.
Homework-- Homework will be sent home next Friday. It will be due the following Friday.
Sickness-- I know this should go without saying, but if your child is sick please keep them home! If your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID, please keep them home and let me know!! If your child has been exposed to COVID, please let me know as soon as possible (or let Mrs. Cunningham know). I believe that if we work as a team we can hopefully have a smooth year! If your child does end up missing school for whatever reason, I will work with you to help your child get caught up or get the work to you.
Curriculum-- We will slowly begin our reading curriculum next week and we are starting our math curriculum on Monday.
Computers-- the students have been begging me to use the computers this week. I finally let them use the computers! As you can imagine they are very excited!! Please remind them about the rules of treating the computers with care and to not pop the keys off.
Class store-- We are doing the class store for the first time today. The students are very excited. If you would like to donate to the class store let me know and I will send you some suggestions to purchase.
Donations-- If you would like to donate the small water bottles to the classroom for the students to have in case they forget their water that would be awesome! Just let me know so I can send an email so we don't end up with 20 cases of water :)
Ice Cream-- Ice cream will be available for purchase every Friday. It will begin next Friday 8/20. It is $1 for ice cream. Please make sure you put the $1 in your child's pouch in their binder. I will collect the money Friday morning.
Pizza-- Pizza will be available for purchase again this year. Once it starts I will send out an email about it with all the details and when the money is due.
Uniforms-- Everyone has been doing great with the uniforms!! Just a reminder please make sure your child wears a red zip jacket. The only thing that can be on the jacket is the Plato logo.
Lunch/Breakfast-- I have attached the menus for this month. The students are doing great with remembering to order breakfast and lunch. They are free again this year as well.
Snack-- we will be eating snack every afternoon! Please make sure you pack a healthy snack for your child. If there is leftover breakfast, I will typically save that for a snack as well.
Spelling tests-- We are starting spelling words next week. They are words that the students will read throughout the week in our reading books. If you would like to review the spelling words at home that is fine but not required. We will have a spelling test each Friday. The words will also be in the Friday emails for the next week. The spelling words at the end of the list (typically #17 & #18) will be bonus words.
Weekly Sight Words: Every week the students will be learning new sight words. These are words that are in the book that we are reading each week. I will include them in the email as well in case you wish to review them at home.
